O'TOOLE SECURES FIRST WIN FOR RCG 1404 (from rugbycanada.ca)

Friday, January 22, 2010 - Submitted by Daily Post North Wales

RGC 1404 secured their first victory as the prospect of regional rugby in North Wales continues to gather pace.

With nine Canadian professionals having joined the ranks last week, along with two South Walians, the newly re-branded Gogledd Cymru outfit put in an excellent performance in defeat on Sunday at Welford Road against a Leicester Tigers development XV.

However, the North Wales side claimed a 22-14 victory on Wednesday night at Chester’s Hare Lane over invitational side Antiassassins.

Two first half tries saw RGC take a 10-0 lead, before Chauncey O’Toole crossed early in the second half with Stephen Woodward converting to make it 17-0.

The Antiassassins came back strongly as the game wore on and notched two converted tries to bring them to within three points.

With time running out and the Antiassassins pressing the RGC1404 line, it looked for all purposes they would go over for the match winning score.

However, after earning turn over ball all the visitors needed was a kick to touch to claim the victory, but instead, Michael Raikes saw space outwide and put Jack Moorhouse clear to break out of defence.

Moorhouse in turn delayed a perfect pass to winger Ioan Davies to go over in the corner.
